14 Alacostans and guests enjoyed a very nice day on the river. The
flow was right around 600 cfs, a little higher than usual for this
time of year, so most managed to do the 14 river miles between
Alexander Valley and Healdsburg Memorial Beach in about 4 hours of
paddle time. One pair in a canoe did manage to dump 3 times, and half
fill the canoe w/ water another time, but they (mostly) still had a
good time. The weather was mostly cloudy, which meant we stayed cool
enough to keep weapons holstered for most of the float. Lots of
wildlife was spotted, including turtles, herons, and a variety of
other birds, identity of which is best left to more bird-oriented
paddlers (if any were present).
