General meeting

The July general meeting will be on Monday, July 7.

Join Mike Boom for an evening of underwater video. Mike will present four short videos shot in the Solomon Islands, Fiji, and Monterey Bay. He'll talk about techniques for getting the best footage and editing an effective video. He'll also discuss video equipment: how to buy a first video system, types of housings and lighting, and accessories to make your life easier. He'll bring his own system as an example. If other club members have video systems of their own, you might want to bring them as well so we can look at different options.

Mike Boom has shot underwater video in the Solomon Islands, Fiji, Hawaii, Monterey Bay, and the Channel islands. He's written about underwater video for Rodale's Scuba Diving magazine; his videos have won awards in the EPIC, Underwater Images, L.A. Underwater Photo Society, and Northern California Underwater Photo Society competitions; and his video ``Up Close in Fiji'' was the opening video for the last San Diego Underwater Film Festival.

Executive board meeting

Executive board meetings are usually held on the third Monday of the month at 8 PM and are usually preceded by a potluck at 6:30 PM. All Alacosta members are invited.
