There was a boat repair party on Saturday, July 13 at Michael
Daily's house. Unfortunately, there were few boats at the party.
One of our Zodiacs had its valves greased. Pepe´ had a
little bit of extra glue applied. One of our engines had some
additional grease applied so that it now can be rotated to a
horizontal position.
Eleven Alacosta divers showed up at the Monterey breakwater on Saturday,
July 27. Susan Carter led the dive from inside one of the
Zodiacs, where she remained. Meanwhile, John Purnell had
his best Monterey dive ever at Eric's Pinnacle. The visibility
started out at 5 feet near the surface, increasing to 40 feet
visibility at 40 feet. The pinnacle was covered with strawberry
anemones of many colors, many Metridium, with an occasional large
ling cod swimming through the cracks. Jeff Lewis's 21 mm of
neoprene was still not enough to keep him warm in water which was near
50 degrees F.
After a long lunch, 4 divers visited Sammet's Spire, a small rock
ranging from about 25 feet to 60 feet below the surface.
Kathleen Cawley joined the second dive, limiting herself to
free diving in the kelp. The visibility was slightly decreased from
the first dive.
