Upcoming dives

Talk to the dive chairs early. Please sign up in advance. All people who sign up are responsible for fees at the dive. People who don't sign up for the dive may be excluded from the dive and shunned for life. On camping trips, each diver is responsible for finding its own campsites. The chair will attempt to organize campsites, but no guarantees can be made. There is a $5 per day fee for use of the club boats.

Space available in Galápagos trip, May 2002
Susan Carter, Trip Leader

Susan Carter is leading a trip to the Galápagos. We are going to the Galápagos May 19-29th, 2002, on the new Peter Hughes Boat, the Sky Dancer! Ten Alacostans have signed up for the trip. The Sky Dancer is a brand new beautiful boat being built in Guayaquil, Ecuador specifically for Peter Hughes.

As many of you know, Alacosta is going to the Galápagos May 19-29th, 2002, on the new Peter Hughes Boat, the Sky Dancer! The Sky Dancer is a brand new beautiful boat built specifically for Peter Hughes. For more information about the boat or Peter Hughes, check out www.peterhughes.com

Unfortunately, two of the ten participants in our Alacosta trip to the Galápagos have recently had to cancel. However, this is very good news for the rest of you, because it means that there are now two open slots available on a ten-day trip on a boat that is otherwise completely full!

If you want to join us on this once in a lifetime trip at a great price, please let me know ASAP as these slots will be filled on a first come, first served basis, and, as I said, the rest of the boat is full.

The two available slots are in a Master Stateroom with window that can be configured for either twin beds or a Queen Bed. The cost will be $2750pp for ten days on the live-aboard, plus airfare of around $1100, chamber and park fees of $135 and one to two nights hotel in transit in Ecuador (cost varies greatly depending on class of hotel) . The cost for the boat includes on board accommodations, all meals, tanks, weights and belts, all diving, great shore excursions in the Galápagos, even coffee brought to your room in the morning: its a luxury operation!

This is a greatly discounted price: the regular price just for the SkyDancer Master Stateroom alone on a ten day trip is $3795. You must either be an Alacosta member, or be willing to join, to get this discounted price. A deposit of $500pp is due ASAP to hold your slot, the balance of the boat fees will be due in mid-February. The entire deposit is refundable if we fill your slot before February 20th, 2002, otherwise all but $150 would be refundable. After February 20th the boat cost is not refundable (and trip insurance is strongly recommended).

Several of the current trip members are planning to tour in Ecuador and possibly Peru (Machu Picchu) before or after the trip, but of course post trip tours are optional.

If you have any other questions, just email me. We hope more Alacostans can join us in the Galápagos!
