General meeting

General meetings are held at:

The August general meeting will be on Monday, August 6, at the Orinda Library Annex. We will vote to name the new boat, currently known as Pépé. The prize is one free day of diving from Pépé; the usual cost is $5 per day. The final decision will be at some unknown meeting in the future.

There will be a vote on raising the boat fee from $5/day to $8/day, as approved at the May executive board meeting.

We may also vote to approve spending $200 to fix Pépé, our new Achilles, as approved by the executive board.

The entertainment at the August meeting will be provided by David Clayton, who will give a presentation updating us on the status of current efforts related to the Monterey Bay Marine Sanctuary and access to, creation of, and preservation of marine reserves, marine parks and state conservation areas under the Marine Life Protection Act (MLPA). David Clayton is a diver representative to the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Advisory Council.

Executive board meeting

Executive board meetings are usually held on the third Monday of the month at 8 PM and are usually preceded by a potluck at 6:30 PM. All Alacosta members are invited. The August meeting executive board will be at Bill McDowell's house on Monday, August 20.
