in Scientific American suggests that salps may be part of then
missing carbon sink. Warmer water leads to more salps, which feed on
phytoplankton. The salp then drop their carbon-rich fecal pellets
into the deep sea.
Alacosta, as well as other divers, have seen many salps lately. Salps
were seen in Catalina.
