Old dives

Double Impact at Van Damme

Alacosta Divers dove at Van Damme on August 16-18. For the second Northern California trip in a row, they dove two tank dives. This is the beginning of a new trend for Alacosta; the club is trying to spend more time diving when it dives. The divers also managed to capture a few abalone.

Dick Wacht and Michael DiGiacomo arrived without tanks. They knew Alacosta's reputation and did not believe that tanks would be used. For other reasons, the Blurb decided to sit out the first tank dive, only entering the water when it was time to dive for abalone. The tank divers dove in front of the blue house south of Van Damme, where the diving ranges from 20 to 100 feet. The walls were covered with Metridium and white-lined nudibranchs. After the tank dive, a few abalone were captured. Saturday evening, the Alacostans had their usual potluck. Sunday morning, the Alacostans were in the water before noon, an uncommon feat for this group. On the return to shore, Janet Parkins was photographed captaining the boat. These slides will be entertainment at a later general meeting.

Peter Lasell cancelled out on this trip. The Grateful Dead allows children under two in for free. Is it possible that Aplysia was treated to a weekend of music at the Shoreline?
